Radical Acceptance: meditations on things as they are

Sometimes we approach our spiritual practice- and our life- as a self-improvement project.  This may sound like a good idea, but the felt experience is of endless conflict.  Instead, great teachers urge us to begin where we are: to accept our current situation as it is.  This may seem like condoning our own shortcomings and the problems of the world.  But in practice, the turning toward our experience with kindness and compassion opens us to the possibility of transformation.

This meditation workshop is for all levels.

“On this sacred path of Radical Acceptance, rather than striving for perfection, we discover how to love ourselves into wholeness.” - Tara Brach

An Invitation to Live

Meditations on Death, Dying and Living

Mondays, July 15, 22 and 29 from 5-6:30pm MT.

In the salt room at Aquarian Uprising with Zoom option.

Death is a taboo topic in our culture, and yet wisdom traditions teach that turning toward death is one of the primary pathways to a joyful and meaningful life.

This 3-week series will explore the cultivation of forgiveness, compassion and joy in looking back at our lives so far; gentle contemplation of aging and death; and the resulting prioritizing of that which we truly value.

Please be prepared to engage in daily meditation homework between sessions. The recommended companion book to this course is The Five Invitations by Frank Ostaseski.

“Death is our friend precisely because it brings us into absolute and passionate presence with all that is here, that is natural, that is love…” -Rainer Maria Rilke

Cost is $100. Pay by venmo @karene-vail or if you prefer to pay by credit card, you can do so here:

An Inspired Life

It’s all too easy to move through life taking care of the details and moving toward conventional successes while enjoying hedonistic pleasures.  But this alone won’t bring the satisfaction of a meaningful life.  In honor of the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., join Karen for conversation and meditations to inspire us by those we most admire and orient our lives toward our deepest values.

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” -Jane Goodall

At Gravity Haus. Free to members, $20 for guests of members. Contact Karen to be her guest! Register at www.gravityhaus.com/event/an-inspired-life-meditation-workshop/
